Lady Elliot Island

A true island paradise, Lady Elliot Island is a popular destination for families and leisure groups keen to explore this rich marine eco-system located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef.
Lady Elliot lies 80 kilometres north east of Bundaberg, and is easily accessible by boat or regular flights that land at the island's own airport. A limited number of guests are allowed on the island at any one time.
The moment you step onto the island, you know you've arrived somewhere special. Formed over 3,000 years this beautiful coral cay is home to 57 species of birds, nesting sea turtles and a stunning underwater world.
On Lady Elliot Island, you set the pace. You can bury your nose in a good book on a stretch of deserted beach, go diving with one of the daily groups, or explore the island's main landmark Lady Elliot Island Lighthouse, one of the first built in Australia using a timber framed substructure and cast iron external cladding.
Diving & Snorkelling
Once you're on the island, the reef is only metres away and few visitors can resist the temptation to snorkel or scuba dive.
The diving is second-to-none at any of the 10 dive sites that include Lighthouse Bommie, Coral Gardens, Moiri, Encounters and Shark Pool and are teeming with marine life. Lady Elliot is renowned amongst divers for its great visibility, ranging from 25 to 50 metres, and its balmy waters.
Come face to face with turtles, glide alongside giant Manta Rays, and delight at the abundance of coral and fish that attract the eye with an explosion of colour.
For a different diving experience you might want to explore the many shipwrecks recumbent in the waters off the island or the secret caverns of the Blow Hole and Hiro's Cave. And when the sun sets, nothing can surpass the eerie stillness and many surprises of a night dive.
Lady Elliot is not just for experienced divers. The lagoon is ideal for novice snorkellers who will find ample tropical fish and vibrant coral to keep them occupied for hours. Snorkelling lessons for beginners are conducted in the pool.
See the Resident Managers at any of our Beachfront Caravan Parks for booking details for Lady Elliot Island.
